About Our Block Paving Work
Block paving remains the most popular driveway surface in London and Surrey for good reason: it is exceptionally hard-wearing, individual blocks can be lifted and replaced, and the choice of colours, sizes and laying patterns means no two driveways need look alike.
We lay every driveway on a fully excavated, compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base with concrete-haunched edge restraints — the parts you never see, and the parts that decide whether a driveway still looks sharp in ten years' time.

Block Paving — Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a block paving driveway take?+
A typical two-car driveway takes three to five working days including excavation, base preparation, laying and jointing. Larger or sloping sites, or jobs needing new drainage, can take a week or more.
Do I need planning permission?+
Usually not, provided surface water drains to a permeable area within your property rather than onto the road. We design the falls and drainage to keep your driveway compliant.
Will weeds grow through the joints?+
The joints are filled with kiln-dried sand and compacted, and a membrane sits below the sub-base. Occasional windblown seeds can settle on the surface, but they pull away easily and sealing reduces it further.
Can you lay over my existing driveway?+
We don't recommend it. Laying over an old surface raises levels against your damp course and thresholds, and you inherit any weakness underneath. We excavate and build up properly.
